Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a successful traveler?

A successful traveler has flexibility, and is easily adaptable to new surroundings.  Keeping an open mind, and excitement for adventure will keep your experiences as a traveler successful.

What are the requirements?

In general you must have a minimum of one year of experience in the field you are looking to work.  This is a general rule of thumb, so if you do not have that minimum one year of experience, please contact a recruiter.

Can I travel when and where I choose? Do I have to sign a year long contract?

The choice on when and where you work is always yours, and you'll never have to sign an annual contract. Decide when you want to travel and where you want to go, and when your assignment is completed, you'll have even more choices:

  • Extend your contract at the current facility
  • Go to another location and facility
  • Return home, and travel again in the future

Can you keep me working as a traveler?

100% Yes! But you must be open-minded and flexible about travel assignments. If you're willing to plan ahead and make a commitment, it's likely that you'll be part of the Direct Staff family for as long as you like.

Can I bring my family and/or pets?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so! Many people have traveled with family, friends or pets.  It's a great opportunity to explore the country together. You may incur slightly higher costs for private housing and maybe a pet deposit.
